Elana Meyers Taylor inducted into DC Sports Hall of Fame
by Gregg Elkin
Elana Meyers Taylor has added another milestone to an already extraordinary career as she was inducted into the Washington DC Sports Hall of Fame in recognition of her achievements in bobsled and her lasting impact on Team USA and the DC athletic community.
Before becoming an Olympic champion, Meyers Taylor made her mark as George Washington University's first-ever softball recruit. She closed out her collegiate career as the program's all-time record holder in nearly every offensive category, before making the career-defining decision to move to bobsled.
The Hall of Fame honor comes on the heels of a historic performance at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, Meyers Taylor's fifth appearance at an Olympics. There, she won gold in Women's Monobob, a moment the International Olympic Committee described as "one of the most beautiful moments" of the Games. As she crossed the finish line, Meyers Taylor signed to her sons Nico and Noah that their mother was now an Olympic champion.
Reflecting on her path, Meyers Taylor credited her time at GW with laying the foundation for her success. "The dream of being an Olympian started at the age of nine," she said in GW Sports' official release announcing the honor. "I thought it would be in softball and I thought it would come right out of GW, but even though I transitioned to bobsled after leaving GW, the reason my career there was so important was because it formed me as an athlete."
Meyers Taylor shared the moment of celebration with her husband and fellow Olympic bobsledder, Nic Taylor, and their two sons, Nico and Noah, who were in attendance the ceremony at Nationals Park.
Congratulations to Elana Meyers Taylor — we can't wait to see where the journey takes her next.
