COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Sept. 30, 2026) – The National Governing Bodies Council (NGBC) has elected Aron McGuire, CEO of USA Bobsled/Skeleton (USABS), to the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) Board of Directors as an NGB Council- elected director. NGB leaders voted last week at the 2026 U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Assembly, and McGuire will begin his term on Jan. 1, 2027.

The USOPC Board of Directors includes three representatives each from the Team USA Athletes’ Commission and the NGBC, two at-large athlete seats, five independent directors, and the American members of the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee Governing Board.

McGuire brings more than 20 years of experience across the Olympic and Paralympic movement to the board. He has worked at USA Track & Field, the USOPC, and USA Bobsled/Skeleton, giving him firsthand involvement with large and small NGBs, summer and winter sports, and NCAA and non-NCAA sports. He also competed as a Team USA bobsled athlete, served as an Athlete Advisory Council representative, and, in leadership roles, supported seven Olympic and Paralympic Games and four Pan American Games.

“I am grateful to the NGB leaders who placed their trust in me,” said McGuire. “Our NGB community is broad and diverse, and there is no single NGB perspective. But many of our priorities are shared, and I am committed to making sure NGBs have a strong voice within the USOPC Board of Directors.”

As NGB Council Vice Chair, McGuire spoke directly with leaders across a wide range of NGBs to understand priorities and challenges beyond his own organization. Those conversations shaped the issues he will carry to the board, including high-performance funding, direct athlete support, the U.S. Center for SafeSport, commercial growth, philanthropy, private equity, compliance, government relations, NCAA structure, and the opportunities surrounding LA28 and Utah 2034.

“This is an important moment for Team USA,” added McGuire. “With LA28 approaching and the Games returning to Utah in 2034, the decisions we make over the next several years will reach well beyond the events themselves. We have an opportunity to strengthen Team USA, create meaningful opportunities for athletes and NGBs, grow our sports, and position the movement for long-term success.”

To focus fully on his USOPC board responsibilities, McGuire will step down as NGB Council Vice Chair, opening a leadership role for another NGB leader. He will continue to serve as CEO of USA Bobsled/Skeleton.

McGuire’s committee and working group experience includes the USOPC Congressional Committee Task Force, USOPC Marketing Working Group, High Performance Gap Analysis Working Group, Team USA AC Success Working Group, and the Utah 2034 Sports & Venue Committee. He also serves on the Broadmoor World Arena Board and with the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation.
