Jake Miter was born on September 11, 1991 in Troy, New York. Jake graduated from Castelton State College with a Bachelor's of Art in sport administration. In high school, he attended LaSalle Institute, where he was a standout on the football and track and field teams. While at Castelton, Jake was a defensive back on the football team. He was first introduced to the sport of skeleton, when he began in a junior bobsled program in 2002 at age 10. He tried skeleton for the first time at age 16. Jake slid on and off while in high school and college, completing his degree requirements a semester early in order to commit full-time to skeleton in January 2013. FUN FACTS
-He works full-time for Spartan Race Inc. in the off-season to cover sliding expenses.
-He loves live music and if he didn't do skeleton, he would probably spend all of his money on concert tickets.
-His father and two older brothers are fire fighters for the city of Troy, New York. He is very grateful for the support he receives from the New York State Professional Fire Fighters Association.
