    Tuffy Latour Skeleton Head Coach

Latour is no stranger to the USABS office, having worked in several capacities within the organization from 1998-2006, before returning to the U.S. squad in 2010 as the head skeleton coach. Latour initially joined the staff as the Lake Placid program director for both sports, before transitioning to the women’s bobsled driving coach and finally the men’s bobsled head coach. While working with the U.S. team, Latour helped secure the first-ever women’s bobsled Olympic gold medal.

The Saranac Lake, N.Y. native competed as a bobsled pilot for eight years and took a 9th place in the four man World Championships in 1995. Latour was also ranked as high as fifth nationally in skeleton before taking an administrative role. In 2007 Latour was offered the head coach position with the Canadian bobsled team.

While leading Canada’s program, Latour helped the host nation win the women’s bobsled gold and silver medals at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. To cap off his Olympic Games with Canada he coached Lyndon Rush’s four-man team to a bronze medal. The USBSF looks forward to similar success with its skeleton program in 2014 with Latour leading the team.

Tuffy Latour graduated with a bachelor's degree in organizational management from Ashford University and is currently pursuing a Master's in Sport Management at Liberty University. Latour lives in Saranac Lake with his wife, Kathy, and their two children; Hannah and T.J. Latour is also a SSG in the Vermont National Guard.
