    Fleming graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1998 with a degree in communications.  While at UCSB she was an athlete on the track and field team. She continued her education at St. Mary's College, earning a Master's degree in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation.  Fleming currently serves on the U.S. Bobsled & Skeleton Federation Board of Directors as an athlete representative.

    Valerie Fleming began bobsled in 2003 and just three years later won a silver medal at the Olympic Games in Torino, Italy with driver Shauna Rohbock.  During the 2006-2007 season, Fleming pushed Rohbock to seven World Cup medals and a bronze medal at World Championships.  The team continued their success, winning three more medals during the 2007-2008 season and gold and silver medals during the first half of the 2008-2009 season.

      -SILVER in Whistler (11/10), 8th in Calgary (12/10), SILVER in Park City make-up (12/10), DNF in Lake Placid (12/10), GOLD in Igls (1/11), BRONZE in Winterberg (1/11), 7th in St. Moritz (1/11), 4th in Cesana (1/11)-SILVER in World Championships in Koenigssee, Germany (2/11)
    • 2009-2010 World Cup as brakewoman for Shauna Rohbock 
      -9th in Park City (11/09) (Fleming suffered a hamstring injury during the Park City event and was unable to compete throughout the remaining 2009-2010 season)
    • 3rd at 2009 U.S. National Bobsled Push Championship
