WINTERBERG, GERMANY (January 2, 2026) - Mystique Ro won silver today in the first World Cup race of 2026.

“Today was about trust. It was a challenging first half, but for today I had to put the past in the back burner. New Year, Olympic Year, fresh start. It’s not over till it’s over,” shared Ro about her performance today on the track.

“Really tough conditions all around today. The ladies battled hard through it and I’m proud of their efforts. Mystique put together great training runs all week and was able to bring them on race day as well despite the weather. It’s great to see the US back on the podium again this season,” shared Matt Antoine, Head Coach of USA Skeleton.

In Women’s Skeleton, Team USA placed as follows:

2nd place - Mystique Ro; 2-run time of 2:00.60

10th place - Kendall Wesenberg; 2-run time of 2:01.81

11th place - Kelly Curtis; 2-run time of 2:01.88

25th place - Sara Roderick; 2-run time 2:03.37

Following an IBSF Jury decision, the World Cup Men’s Skeleton race was stopped this morning due to weather conditions. The race has been rescheduled for next weekend in St. Moritz, Switzerland, creating a two-race weekend for the men’s skeleton athletes. The Skeleton Mixed Team event, also scheduled for today, was cancelled due to the weather forecast in Winterberg.

Tomorrow, January 3, World Cup bobsled racing will make its 2026 debut, with Women’s Monobob scheduled to begin at 11:30am CET and 2-Man Bobsled scheduled for 3:30pm CET. Fans can livestream and re-watch all the races by heading to @IBSFsliding on YouTube.
