WINTERBERG, Germany (January 6, 2022) – The International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation World Cup tour will make its seventh stop of the season in Winterberg with races from Friday through Sunday. This is the second time this season that Winterberg has hosted the circuit.

The schedule is as follows, with all times listed in local time:

Friday, January 7

10 a.m.: Men’s skeleton run #1

11:45 a.m.: Men’s skeleton run #2

2:30 p.m.: Women’s skeleton run #1

4 p.m.: Women’s skeleton run #2

Saturday, January 8

9:45 a.m.: Women’s monobob run #1

11:15 a.m.: Women’s monobob run #2

1:30 p.m.: Two-man bobsled run #1

3 p.m.: Two-man bobsled run #2

Sunday, January 2

9 a.m.: Two-woman bobsled run #1

10:30 a.m.: Two-woman bobsled run #2

Elana Meyers Taylor (Douglasville, Ga.) and Kaillie Humphries (Carlsbad, Calif.) are once again medal favorites this weekend in women’s monobob and two-woman bobsled. Meyers Taylor won the monobob race in Winterberg earlier this season, and was sixth in two-woman. Humphries will be a tour de force as she works towards improving her 13th and fifth place finishes from a few weeks ago. Meyers Taylor is paired with first-year competitor Kaysha Love (Herriman, Utah) for the two-woman race, and Humphries will compete with USA Bobsled National Push Champion Sylvia Hoffman (Arlington, Texas).

In men’s bobsled, Hunter Church (Cadyville, N.Y.) will race with Charlie Volker (Fair Haven, N.J.) in the two-man competition. Church’s four-man crew will be Josh Williamson (Lake Mary, Fla.), Volker and Kris Horn (Pembroke, Mass.). Frank Del Duca (Bethel, Maine) was promoted to the World Cup team after medaling in all 16 North American Cup races this season, including seven victories. He’ll race with Hakeem Abdul Saboor (Powhatan, Va.) in two-man. Carlo Valdes (Newport Beach, Calif.), Kyle Wilcox (Tampa, Fla.) and Abdul Saboor will push with Del Duca in Sunday’s four-man race. Wilcox raced with Del Duca in the North American Cup series and was also named to the national team during the holiday break.

Andrew Blaser (Meridian, Idaho) and Austin Florian (Southington, Conn.) will once again represent the U.S. in the men’s skeleton competition. Florian has the most experience between the two. This will be his fifth World Cup race in Winterberg, and he’ll look to improve on his 30th place finish from a few weeks ago. Blaser has one race under his belt on the German track; he finished 22nd in a World Cup race two years ago.

Megan Henry (Roxbury, Conn.) and Kelly Curtis (Princeton, N.J.) will compete in the women’s skeleton race. Henry has raced in a combination of European Cup, Intercontinental Cup, World Cup and World Championship competitions in Winterberg. This will be her 10th career race on the course. This will be Curtis’ third time competing in Winterberg, and only her eighth career World Cup race. Katie Uhlaender's (Breckenridge, Colo.) status for this weekend is pending.
