Olympic Skeleton Racing is Here

CORTINA, ITALY (February 11, 2026)Olympic Men’s Skeleton racing begins tomorrow, February 12, with Dan Barefoot and Austin Florian representing Team USA:

Barefoot, 35, of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, began competing in skeleton in 2017 after a prior athletic career in baseball. He has represented the United States at three World Championships and will make his Olympic racing debut tomorrow in Cortina.

Florian, 31, of Southington, Connecticut, transitioned to skeleton in 2016 with a background in alpine ski racing. A six-time World Championships competitor, Florian is the reigning World Champion in the Skeleton Mixed Team event alongside Mystique Ro—an event that will make its first appearance as an Olympic Skeleton discipline on February 15. Tomorrow also marks Florian’s Olympic racing debut.

“We’re excited to see the USA Skeleton team begin competition at the Olympic Games,” shared Aron McGuire, CEO of USA Bobsled/Skeleton (USABS). “They’ve put in the work, earned this opportunity, and we have full confidence in their preparation and performance. We’re proud to support them as they represent the United States on the world stage.”

Men’s Skeleton will conclude with Heats 3 and 4 on February 13.

Women’s Skeleton will begin competition on the 13th with their first two heats of racing.
