Hal Pittman USABS Board of Directors Independent Director
Hal Pittman has served as an independent director on the USABS board of directors for nearly two years. He is currently the director of external communications with the Arizona Public Service Corporation. He is also the senior communications and marketing executive in an S&P 500, publicly-traded $6.5 billion utility company.
Previously, Pittman served as the president & CEO of Special Olympics Iowa, a $4 million non-profit sport organization focused on the intellectually disabled. He also served as a rear admiral in the United States Navy as part of a 30-year military career, culminating as a military general officer leading communications for multiple billion dollar organizations, including NATO, United States operations in Afghanistan, United States Central Command and the United States Department of Defense.
He has served as vice chairman of the Amateur Athletic Union Strength Sports, where he was also an international powerlifting/strength sports judge. He is a certified powerlifting coach and a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors and the Public Relations Society of America.
He specializes in executive leadership, strategic/corporate communications, strategic planning and organizational alignment.
Pittman graduated with a bachelor's of science from Appalachian State University and a master's degree from American University. He is also a Seminar XXI Fellow from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has participated in executive programs at the University of Virginia's Darden school and the Harvard Kennedy School.
