    Originally from Detroit, Mich., JC Cruse competed in football and basketball at Albion College, earning all-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association honors in both sports after averaging 12 points per game during his collegiate basketball career and scoring nine touchdowns in his final two years on the football team. He graduated in 2011 with a degree in Sociology. 

    Upon graduation, Cruse spent time on the Albion football coaching staff, helping with the team's receivers. A friend of his recommended he try bobsledding, though Cruse was initially hesitant to try the sport. "Eventually he had to just sign me up himself to get me to go," Cruse said. But the decision paid off, as Cruse went on to post the top score at the 2016 Geneva, Ohio, combine. 


    - Cruse's favorite moment from his athletic career is when he helped lead the Albion football team to a league championship.
