WINTERBERG, Germany (January 7, 2022) – Megan Henry (Roxbury, Conn.) was the top American in 10th place in this morning’s women’s skeleton World Cup race in Winterberg. Kelly Curtis (Princeton, N.J.) was close behind her teammate in 13th. 


Henry pushed off the start block with a push time of 5.44 seconds for the 10th best run of the first heat, and crossed the finish line with the 13th fastest downtime of 58.84 seconds. The Army World Class Athlete Program competitor bettered her start to a 5.40 in the second heat for a faster run of 58.31 seconds. Henry gained three spots to finish 10th with a combined time of 1:57.15.


Curtis had a start time of 5.46 seconds in the first heat and was in eighth position with a run of 58.66 seconds. Curtis, a member of the Air Force World Class Athlete Program, pushed a 5.51 start in run two. She had trouble executing a few corners and crossed the finish line in 58.62 seconds for a total time of 1:57.28. Curtis fell back five positions into 13th place.


Katie Uhlaender (Breckenridge, Colo.) did not race today, but she is expected to compete in the World Cup finale in St. Moritz, Switzerland next week.


Kimberly Bos from the Netherlands continues to lead overall with another World Cup win today. She was victorious with a combined time of 1:56.04. Germany’s Jacqueline Loelling claimed silver with a cumulative time of 1:56.28. Elena Nikitina from Russia earned bronze in 1:56.47.


Racing continues tomorrow in Winterberg with the women’s monobob competition at 9:45 a.m. local time, and the two-man bobsled race at 1:30 p.m. Streaming will be available via desktop at olympics.com/en/live/, and via mobile, tablet and connected television platforms on the Olympic Channel app. Check local listings for broadcast times on the Olympic Channel and OlympicChannel.com.
