Bobsled and skeleton World Championships resume in Altenberg tomorrow

ALTENBERG, Germany (Feb. 10, 2021) – The 2021 World Championships resume in Altenberg tomorrow and continue throughout the weekend. The U.S. will field sleds in four events: women’s skeleton, men’s skeleton, a mixed skeleton team event, and women’s monobob. This will be women’s monobob debut on the World Championship schedule, and only the second time a mixed skeleton team event has been included in the World Championship program. 


The schedule is as follows, with all times listed in local time:


Thursday, Feb. 11

9 a.m.: Women’s skeleton run #1

10:30 a.m.: Women’s skeleton run #2

1 p.m.: Men’s skeleton run #1

3 p.m.: Men’s skeleton run #2


Friday, Feb. 12

9 a.m.: Women’s skeleton run #3

10:30 a.m.: Women’s skeleton run #4

1 p.m.: Men’s skeleton run #3

3 p.m.: Men’s skeleton run #4


Saturday, Feb. 13

9 a.m.: Mixed skeleton team event

11:30 a.m.: Women’s monobob run #1

1 p.m.: Women’s monobob run #2


Sunday, Feb. 14

9 a.m.: Women’s monobob run #1

10:30 a.m.: Women’s monobob run #2


The three athletes that will represent Team USA in the women’s skeleton competition will be Katie Uhlaender (Breckenridge, Colo.), Kendall Wesenberg (Modesto, Calif.), and Sara Roderick (Truro, Mass.). This will be Uhlaender’s ninth World Championships, Wesenberg’s fifth, and Roderick will be making her first career World Championship appearance.


Austin Florian (Southington, Conn.) and Austin McCrary (Colleyville, Texas) will race in the men’s skeleton event. This is Florian’s third World Championships, and McCrary’s first.


Kaillie Humphries (Carlsbad, Calif.) and Elana Meyers Taylor (Douglasville, Ga.) will pilot the two women’s monobob sleds this weekend. Humphries is a favorite to win; she’s won both World Cup races she’s entered this season. Meyers Taylor is also a medal favorite with two silver medal performances in the discipline this season.
