Team USA Sits 3rd, 5th and 12th After First Two Heats
by Abby Slenker
CORTINA, ITALY (February 20, 2026) - Team USA competed in the first two heats of Olympic 2-Woman Bobsled racing today. After setting a track record in Heat 1, Kaillie Armbruster Humphries and Jasmine Jones are currently sitting in 3rd with a two-run time of 1:54.16, 0.23 seconds behind the leading sled.
“As we saw during the first run, and in the Women’s Monobob race, anything can happen,” shared Armbruster Humphries, who won bronze in last week’s competition. “Anything can happen at any given point, at this track specifically, so, the start matters, every single hundredth [of a second] you get at the top, every single steer I do on the way down is going to make a difference [...] We’re just going to do the best we can, keep it as simple as possible, focus on what we can control, and we’ll see how these chips fall.”
Kaysha Love and Azaria Hill sit in 5th with a combined time of 1:54.55, 0.62 seconds behind the leader’s time.
“..With this track, with the first four curves being as spicy as they are, I think anything can happen,” shared Love in the Mixed Zone on her mindset for tomorrow. “Like Z said, I think there’s a lot in reserve, especially in our push, and that push velocity is really going to pay off tomorrow.” The two-time Olympian, who is making her debut as a pilot at these Games, placed 7th in the Women’s Monobob competition.
After a skid into Curve 1 during Heat 2, Elana Meyers Taylor and Jadin O’Brien currently sit in 12th place, 1.20 seconds behind the leader, with a combined time of 1:55.13.
“I’ve been blessed to have a lot of really good races, and a lot of really, really good Olympic races, but today just wasn’t our day. That was a devastating mistake, but we get to come back out here tomorrow, put together two good runs here tomorrow, and fight to the finish,” shared Meyers Taylor about her final two heats tomorrow evening. The five-time Olympian secured her first gold medal, her sixth Olympic medal total, during last week’s Monobob competition.
